Well, it is the last day of the month.. did something kooky this weekend.. I cleaned my paint room and closet..
Good news is that you can move around in there again... other news is that I found stuff I did not know I even had...
Now, I also drew decoy patterns last week to get ready for an upcoming big project...
So carving for the show season has started and there is starting to be a buzz around here with the carvers,,, what is everyone making for our local DU contest...
The DU contest is a one night event and we have Gunners, Shorebirds, Minis and Antiques...
So, something for everyone... we will get close to 100 carvings for the night... and they will all be sold that night... what a great night if you like to look and buy handmade carving projects...
Here is a photo of some of my old patterns that I started with to create new ones..
Other photo is a Winter Loon that I finished.. always wanted to make a Loon in winter colors...

Well... spent the weekend in N.J. at the Tom's River decoy and art show... Had a great weekend, saw old friend and made some new ones... that is what going to decoy show should be about.. exchanged ideas, talked over carving concepts.. learn what is going on in the N.J. carving world...
Got to judge some areas and enter others... did well in the contests... first photo is a winter Loon that I just finished.. took third in G&C with that bird..next photo is the pair of Surf Scoters that I made.. these birds took best in show... next photo is the antique heron that I carved.. was lucky enough to win best in show in the antiques...
First year that they had antiques at this show.. so it was exciting to see all the project that were entered...
Now back to pattern making... can't sit here and type all day...

Ben is working on a gunning decoy...
Here is a photo of a Antique Pintail Drake that I made just this weekend... what a fun project...
The other phots are just the troops working on their birds...
I think we were close to solving the worlds problems but that will have to wait till we get these decoys done...

Well, Hope everyone is looking fore ward to the exciting new year..
Just came off vacation between the holidays..was going to hunt all week, but when the weather and birds don,t cooperate...You Paint ...
Painted a couple of birds.. Wood Duck, Hooded hen, and a American Merganser..
The Wood Duck I carved for time.. I don't do that ofter but sometimes you just want to know how quick you can make a decoy...
Worked on some others projects also... Coot, Pintail
I'm having fun making these gunners.. for some reason I have found a new gratification when I finish another bird...
Also started carving some pieces just for the fun of it...
